The White Heron is situated at a village called Polzeath renowned for its surf.  Many people come here to surf from pro long-boarding, boogie-boarding to just swimming and bobbing.  Surfing lessons are available on the beach and boards and wetsuits can be hired from some of the local stores. If surfing is not your "thing" or you've had enough of the waves, there are plenty of rock pools, ideal for the younger ones, scattered across the beach.  Oh and don't forget the million and one things you can do with sand!
Coming away from the beach, the picturesque views from the coastal footpaths are breathtaking.  It doesn't stop there.  The path is part of the enormous "South West Way" so you can walk literally as far as you want.  We recommend from Polzeath to Daymer Bay, An approximate 45 minutes walk.  But for the real enthusiast, there's the adventurous walk between Polzeath and Port Issac where experienced walkers can take about three hours to complete it.

Also, a stay here isn't complete without a sunset view of the place itself.
